Description:

Perennial plant with hairless leaves, shiny, glaucous, finely divided into numerous thread-like lobes and prominent sheathing bases. Flowers appear in large umbels, which are umbrella-shaped inflorescences. Easily distinguished from the Common Fennel and Field Fennel from its thicker stem, darker foliage, it’s larger and denser inflorescences and the lack of typical sweet fennel odours.

Habitat:

Frequently found in maquis, garigue, steppes, abandoned fields and disturbed ground.

Notes:

Maltese name: Ferla
