Field Notes

Description:

This is a minute little plant! The leaves are dark green and sawtooth edged. The flowers are five petals and bright yellow.

Habitat:

Growing in the lawn. The yard used to be all woods and is surrounded by woods so we get a lot of things other than grass in the lawn.

Notes:

At first I thought this was a Wild Strawberry but it lacks white flowers and runners. I also thought it might be a rype of buttercup.

Species ID Suggestions

Potentilla reptans
