Field Notes

Description:

I'm not sure what species of deermouse this is. White-footed? North American? Something else?
A cute little mouse, brown/gray with a white tummy. Tail about the same length as its body.
Sadly, my cats found this guy before I did, and I couldn't save it :( Another lesson in nature's crueler side. I cried over the little critter more than was reasonable and "buried" it under leaves in the woods, with flowers on top. It was a grand funeral for a house mouse.

Habitat:

My house. Was hiding in a gap under a bookcase.
