Field Notes

Description:

A small, chunky bird with a round body and a long tail that it often cocks upward. It has a distinctive bill, which is long, slender, and downcurved.
Both males and females have bright, unpatterned reddish-brown coloring on their back and wings, with tan-orange underparts. They also have a long white eyebrow stripe.

Habitat:

I spotted this wren at Pratt Nature Center. It was flying around the goat and cow pastures and spent a lot of time hopping around a woodpile with her fledglings.

Notes:

See spotting of one of her fledglings here: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/332480775
