Field Notes

Description:

The Gram Blue is a moderately common Lycaenid that can be found fluttering around low shrubs in open areas. The male is light purple whilst the female is rather heavily black-dusted with the wing bases pale shining blue. The underside is pale buff, with the usual lycaenine markings as spots and striae. The spots in the costal and basal areas of the hindwing are black and very distinct. The black submarginal spots near the tails are edged with metallic green scaling and inwardly crowned with orange. The species also possesses a pair of string-like tails.

Habitat:

Urban garden.

Notes:

Distribution in the Philippines is Palawan, Cebu, Leyte, Luzon and Tawitawi.
