Field Notes

Description:

Black, three horned beetle. Possibly Oryctes rhinoceros - asiatic rhinoceros beetle, but I am leaving it open for confirmation.

Habitat:

Adjacent to a small stream. Altitude 1000m.

Notes:

I found this specimen hanging from a tent web spider’s web. After a couple of snaps, I removed it (still alive). The spider would not go near this beetle and would just wait for it to die and then cut it free. Once released and placed on a leaf, it curled up and would not give me a good image – there’s gratitude!
