Field Notes

Description:

The Common Caerulean is found in South and South-East Asia, and is widely distributed in Singapore, often found at the edges of the nature reserves as was the case here. Like most of the species in the genus it has a white-tipped tail at vein 2 on the hindwing, and an orange-crowned eyespot on the underside hindwing.

Habitat:

Edge of Bukit Timah Nature Reserve, which contains Singapore's last remnants of primary rainforest. This butterflie flies around shrubs and grass a few feet off he ground.
