Field Notes

Description:

A 12 mm yellow and black hoverfly. As in other Chrysotoxum species, https://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/670085891, the antennae are relatively long, longer than the head. The face is bright yellow with a black central stripe. The thorax is glossy black with two gray longitudinal stripes and on the sides a yellow stripe interrupted above the wing attachment. The scutellum is yellow with a dark tip. The abdomen is also black marked with a serires of gently curved yellow bars. The legs are yellow and slender. The wings are glassy with a brown leading edge.

Habitat:

Mixed forest.
