Field Notes

Description:

The Common Kestrel is a bird of prey species belonging to the kestrel group of the falcon family Falconidae. It is also known as the European Kestrel, Eurasian Kestrel, or Old World Kestrel. They come down the globe for wintering. This one is a female as it lacks the blue-grey cap.

Habitat:

Garhwal Himalayas.

Notes:

We saw a parent of this bird catch a prey and bring it to him. This fledgling was perched on a rock just outside its nest. When we were clicking it got scared and went inside.
