Comments (2)

Most Coprinus species have been moved to other Genera because they were shown not to be closely related to the type species, Coprinus comatus. As a result Coprinus plicatilis is now called Parasola plicatilis. In fact there are many different mushroom species which look macroscopically identical to P. plicatilis, which normally end up getting called the same thing. Yours is a Parasola species, but without careful microscopic examination it would be impossible to say which for sure.
