Funny how my map says Antioch, but I was just outside Livermore.

There were two, but one flew off. These were not vocal except for whatever was in the tree I couldn't see. But either that was some other raptor and they were harassing it or a young bird.

I love the first shot Jellis! ...If I'm not careful I'm going to be known as the Red-tail lady! Ha! ...wait, maybe it's too late! This looks like a red-tailed hawk to me! Must be a juvenile due to the brown barred tail. RTHs don't get their rusty red tail until they are about a year old. Other identifying markers on this bird is the dark belly band and the dark patagial marks! Also, RTH are very vocal when they are not happy! They will usually call to each other and/or vocalize at you if you are in their territory.

Jemma there was a pair and I could hear a possible young one in the tree. But it could have been some other raptor. And yes it is looking like one.

Thanks Megan, there were two of them keeping an eye on me cause I could hear a young one in a tree, never could spot it though.
