Field Notes

Description:

I love mayflies and their quirky disposition! This individual had beautiful light blue eyes with a sand colored body with small orange bands on the legs, and barred markings on the wings, which, in the forewings, become very concentrated just below a rust-orange mark.

Notes:

Lifer!! This might just be one of the coolest mayflies I've seen yet!

Species ID Suggestions

Comments (5)

You are correct with the ID of (Stenonema femoratum). The stigma stain of the forewing is diagnostic as well as the crowding of the cross veins in the bulla region.
