Field Notes

Description:

A big-sized leafhopper, this black hopper was about 12mm long. There were two white patches in the middle of each wing and a single patch near the apex of each wing.
Small eyes were set far apart as in all hoppers. The abdomen and part of the femurs were red.

Habitat:

Notes:

These are the largest eucalyptus hoppers I've seen. There were about five of them on a low branch of the tree all trying to hide their heads against leaf stalks at the axil. One of them decided to climb on to my hand and tried to hide its head against my sleeve. Took me a while to coax it back onto the branch.

Thank you Daniele. These were quite big and quite happy to climb on to my arm.
