Especie herbácea de la familia Cistaceae. Flores amarillas con manchas negras de tamaño variable entre individuos. Florece en primavera.
Habitat:
Bosques abiertos y soleados, pastizales termófilos. Distribución mediterránea. Presente también en Portugal, Irlanda, Gran Bretaña, Holanda, Alemania y Bulgaria.
