Field Notes

Description:

This is an elegant, long tailed bird with peachy salmon below, grayish white breast, dark wings and light blue-gray above on shoulders, neck and head. The bill is black. Males are slightly more colorful.

Habitat:

Open grasslands and savannas in south central US and extending southward into Central America.

Notes:

The second photo shows the extremely long tail of the Sissor-tailed Flycatcher.

Thanks everyone for the nice comments. Alice, I was joking with a co-worker that I was going to find spring even if I had to drive to Central America to do so. We were gone for two weeks and in that time it snowed here in Minnesota a couple of times. Tomorrow night we are supposed to have frost and on Tuesday we may see 90 degrees. It's been a crazy spring....
You must have travelled south to get a little warmth! Excellent pictures!
