Field Notes

Description:

Very strangely named 'red' when it is clearly pink but it is believed that the first part of the scientific name 'silene' comes from the Greek God Silenus who was often depicted as drunk so this may explain it!! nice splash of colour along bank sides and woodlands.

Habitat:

Seen at Potteric Carr, owned by the Yorkshire wildlife trust
