Description:

Small shorebird 6 1/4" an imperiled species on the Gulf Coast. Eggs, bird on nest, adult

Habitat:

On Siesta Beach, Sarasota FL
The pic one eggs have been abandoned ...either something happened to the hen or she gave up as she didn't seem to have a male to help her attend the nest. Pic 2 is an active nest

I have to think the Snowy Plover added those shell fragments because the beach is pretty much "Sugar" sand.
love the contrast between the jagged, white shell fragments and the smooth speckled eggs
