Description:

One of the most notable things about this herbaceous perennial thistle is its striking purple flowers. It has thick and sturdy stems and large foliage and is closely related to cultivated artichokes.

Habitat:

Found in rich, well drained soil and sunny habitats.

Notes:

Maltese name: Qaqocc salvagg
