Grass Crab Spider
Oxytate virens
12.1973, 75.8033
Field Notes
Description:
Commonly found in the ventral side of green leaves. The colouration of this spider merges with the colouration of green leaves. Retreat is constructed by folding the end portion of a leaf back onto itself thereby creating a pyramidal space. During night, it stalks for prey hanging onto the under-side of leaves. When the spider senses the vibrations caused by prey moving on the upper side of the leaf, it quickly pounces on the victim.
