Field Notes

Description:

Blue bell flowers coming from a common stem. Leaves emerging from the center, not unlike camas leaves. Persistent bulbs not far from the surface of the soil. Low plant, no more than about 8" tall.

Habitat:

Garden, naturalized. Loamy, acidic soil at the edge of woods.

Notes:

Blooms just before the native camas. The leaves and buds look very similar; the bulbs & flowers do not, though they are both blue and like similar conditions.
