Description:

small beetle, bright blue head, tan iridescent body

Habitat:

tropical rainforest

Notes:

Spotted this with the help of Chun Xing Wong in Tawau hills park. I was very close to this beetle and the large black circle in its reflection is my camera lens.

Thanks thaptor, I'll go with your ID, no one else has any suggestions and it is difficult to get a close view with these photos.
can easily be wrong with that - but dead wood is the right place for them.
Your camera is too big, it's blocking the reflection of your face :-)
