Field Notes

Description:

The larvae of the green lacewing is a voracious hunter that is commonly used as a means of pest control. It later grows up into a green adult that feeds on nectar.

Habitat:

This one took up residence in my leg hair. Prior to that, it lived on low vegetation growing at a muddy riverbed in Chicago, IL.

Notes:

It has some sort of red/ orange growth or parasite on one of its legs. Or it could be some organic debris attached to it. Any ideas as to what this is would be appreciated.
