Field Notes

Description:

Larger bird with long legs and tails. Adults are black with glossy blue or purple and bronze iridescence. Light iris. Usually noisy and found in groups.

Habitat:

Bronx Zoo.

Notes:

Very common bird in this area. They have been elusive for me as far as photographing. This one was resting in the reeds next to the flamingo exhibit. I am wondering if the bird was ill as it was all by itself and not really moving around other than to preen some.
