Yellow-necked Soldier Beetle

Podabrus flavicollis is a species in the family Cantharidae, which are very closely related to fireflies, Lampyridae. The genus Podabrus is distinguished by a head which tapers before the thoracic segment. Podabrus flavicollis has a black head, a yellow thorax which seems to fade to a whitish-yellow on the edges, and an abdomen with yellow-edged black elytra.
