bracket fungi
Trametes sp.
-37.8099, 145.279
Field Notes
Description:
A series of dark brackets which start of as dark furry knobs and a short stipe, then fuse together to form extensive colonies that look like rusted iron. Tops of brackets had dense "fur". Outer margins of the brackets were white. The underside was cream colour and showed angular pore tubes (pics #4 &5)
Habitat:
Spotted growing on a decaying damp pine log
Notes:
These brackets appeared a little dry and old but where damp, they looked velvety and dark. These brackets look like Trametes but do not have the multi-coloured wavy bands. The angular pores are probably distinctive.
