Field Notes

Description:

This dove is about 28 cm (11 in) in length. It has pink/red legs and feet and grayish/brown body above with a paler gray/brown tinge below. A broad band of white tips its tail, which is best seen in flight, and gives the dove its name.

Habitat:

This dove is widely spread through the southern tip of Texas and south into South America. This bird was photographed in an open to brushy forest in southern Texas.
