Field Notes

Description:

Spider wasp (Pompilidae) with paralysed spider victim. The wasp stings spiders to stun them, then flies off with them to her burrow where she will lay eggs inside it. These will then hatch and devour the spider from the inside out. Yum!

Habitat:

Secondary Amazon rainforest, Ecuador.
