Field Notes

Description:

The Philippine Tarsier or Mawmag in the local dialect. The photograph is of a captive individual and was spotted during a trip to Bohol last May.

Habitat:

It is found in the southeastern part of the archipelago, particularly in the islands of Bohol, Samar, Leyte and Mindanao.

Notes:

The Philippine Tarsier is currently listed as Near Threatened by the IUCN Conservation Monitoring Centre and is considered as an endangered species by the Philippines' Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).
