Field Notes
Description:
As its name suggests this is a woodland butterfly and part of the nymphalidae family. This butterly species does not feed on nectar but on honey secreted from aphids. The female is larger than the male and have a wingspan of between 4.5 and 5.5cm.
Habitat:
seen at the Lyndon house part of Rutland water nature reserve owned by leicestershire wildlife trust.
