Field Notes

Description:

A medium sized shore bird. But rarely found near a shore. Long straight bill, stocky body and short greenish legs. They have a dark stripe across the eye with a lighter stripe above and below it and a white one along its head. Mottled brown and black on back. The belly is white and flanks and chest are barred brown. It is most recognized by the four light colored down the back when it is not flying.

Habitat:

Mostly found in bogs, marshes and wet areas. These were found in a wet field.
