Field Notes

Description:

A solitary small (25mm) psychid moth at the top of a young eucalyptus tree. It seemed to be very exposed to the elements. Case appeared to contain mostly dried shards of bark.

Habitat:

Open parkland on a solitary small eucalyptus.

Notes:

Most likely Hyalarcta nigrescens, subfamily Psychinae. ALA not responding.

Sorry Rieko I'm not sure. It started with a leaf which it wrapped into a tube maybe with some silk which means it is like a caterpillar or spider.
