Description:

This beautifully colored adult purple gallinule is a member of the rail family and is a year-round resident of south Florida. Its long legs and feet enable it to walk on floating vegetation.

Habitat:

Green Cay Wetlands area in Delray Beach, FL

Notes:

The last photo shows some of his turtle friends who were out enjoying the late afternoon sun.
