Field Notes

Description:

Although a poorly focussed photo, this is infact a net-casting spider. They weave a sheet out of silk and wait for passing victims before jumping on them with their home-made net. You can see this spider has made a catch at the top of its body. These spiders were recently featured on the BBC: http://www.bbc.co.uk/nature/18990161

Habitat:

Amazon rainforest, Ecuador.

Notes:

Perhaps Deinopidae family: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deinopidae
