Field Notes

Description:

This lady was about 6" long, including her lovely long tail. She had a very light blue throat band under her chin, and a faint peach coloration on the sides of her belly. The scales were rough and pointy, and wonderfully camoflaged to blend in with tree bark.

Her belly was very fat indeed, and I suspect she may have a belly full of eggs.

Habitat:

This particular individual was "rescued" from the parking lot by some well-intentioned city kids who were afraid she'd be run over, and brought in to the science center. As she is a native, we decided she should be relocated into a more appropriate area. She now lives in the empty lot next to my house, with lots of turkey oaks and long leaf pines to hide in.
