Field Notes

Description:

These young ducklings (I counted six) sat very still and I almost did not see them as I walked along a local bike & walking path. It wasn't until I cropped the picture that I noticed that the mother duck was also present and lingering in the background.

Habitat:

Breeding mallards seen in Georgia are feral, i.e. escaped or released from captivity, there are no truly wild mallards breeding in Georgia.

Notes:

Spotted on the Noonday Creek Trail, Kennesaw GA.

Listed as invasive in Florida.
