Field Notes

Description:

A common hawk, with a brownish head, barred reddish-peachy underparts, dark-and-white checkered wings, and a strongly banded tail. They have long yellow legs.

Habitat:

This one was flying through the woods along a creek running through a city park greenbelt. It was watching some mallard ducks in a small pond below and the activity in the dog park.
