Description:

To 12 inches. Note two breast bands. The Killdeer is the common noisy breeding plover of the plowed fields and pasture-lands. Voice is a lous insistent Kill-dee repeated.

No they do not stick around in winter. That is why is was so delightful to see them and hear them in the fields .
