Field Notes

Description:

This is definitely genus Sisyrinchium, and I believe the species to be nashii (syn. are in the "Tags") based on the purplish tinge in the spathes are only on the margins.

Habitat:

Native to southeastern US. Sandy, rocky, or rich soil, upland pines, rich deciduous lowland woods, pine-oak woodlands.

Notes:

Spotted in a grassy field near the detention/retention pond in an office building complex in Kennesaw, GA
