Description:

This gray aphid nymph was attacked by a Whirligig Mite. The mite was about 2 mm long.

Habitat:

Lantana in backyard.

What kind of a microscope do you use? Must be tough lugging it around in the bushes :)

Actually the mite is the predator of the aphid, Dotun55 :-) Ladybirds may be preyed on by some birds. Most animals prefer to leave ladybirds alone as they taste bad.
Aphid eats mite. Ladybird eats aphid. What eats ladybird???
