IDea means btw: Check size, shape of the wings, proportions forewing/hindwing, color, antennae, position of legs and antennae, texture (hairy, smooth) and not forget the most important thing: Check your brain and memory!
OK, I tell you my secret. I have my own ID system: 5-1-5-1. 5 seconds for the family, 1 minute for the genus, 5 minutes for the species and an additional 1 hour four tricky ones. After that I usually give up due to the lack of time. You need some experience for that or better: You need some IDea before you start, unless you will be lost in the data nirwana. There are some very nasty ones I IDed, spent hours before I get the ID, just to finally find out: I was wrong!! That's life on Project Noah ;-)...
But now they match, don't they?? ;-)...
bayucca, thank you very much, I really tried to get this one but could not get the wings and body to match, the photo's I found.
Geometridae, Geometrinae, Victoria fuscithorax.
