Field Notes

Habitat:

Spend the breeding season in mature coniferous and mixed coniferous-deciduous woodlands. During winter, Yellow-rumped Warblers find open areas with fruiting shrubs or scattered trees, such as parks, streamside woodlands, open pine and pine-oak forest, dunes (where bayberries are common), and residential areas. On their tropical wintering grounds they live in mangroves, thorn scrub, pine-oak-fir forests, and shade coffee plantations.

Notes:

My guess is Pine Warbler (Setophaga pinus) immature or female. The 2 additional photos are very blurry, but I included them because they show tail markings which helps with ID. The tail is confusing me though as it looks too dark for a Pine warbler. UPDATE: agree with ID suggested. It most be an immature or female of the eastern Myrtle subspecies.

Species ID Suggestions

Setophaga coronata

Thank you, Robert. I guess an immature or female Myrtle (or eastern) variety.
