Field Notes

Description:

Aspidimorpha miliaris (Fabricius, 1775), called the Spotted Tortoise Beetle, of family Chrysomelidae, subfamily Cassidinae. The genus name is frequently misspelled as "Aspidomorpha", due to an unjustified spelling change in 1848.

I've spotted this on the same day as this one - http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/23138082. Note the difference in the dot patterns of the beetles' elytra.

Habitat:

Backyard garden, spotted on Canna Lily flower.
