Buzzard
Buteo buteo
53.431, -1.35546
Field Notes
Description:
Apologies for the poor quality photo but this Buzzard suddenly came in to view circling high above some meadows we were walking in and its distinct shallow V wingshape and spread 'fingers' and tail fan are still visible in the photo, we did have it in binoculars to check but could tell from its mewing call what it was before we looked. The most widespread of all birds of Prey in Britain now.
Habitat:
seen circling above fields owned by the Yorkshire wildlife trust in Rotherham.
Notes:
This was the only shot I managed to get as my camera will not focus on empty sky but the Buzzard happened to cross behind the power lines so it fared just slightly better and enough to tell what it is.
