Field Notes

Description:

Between 18" and 36" tall, Blooms pea-like,about 1" across, mostly in pairs, (at least the ones I saw were...) born at the end of a slightly fuzzy stalk (see picture 3). Leaves compound, alternate, usually 5-7 leaflets, entire leaf perhaps 3-4" long.

Habitat:

Endemic to the Florida Peninsula, on Sandhills, pine flatwoods, scrub.

Notes:

Since the blossoms are so sparse, and the plant is itself rather wispy, even though it's so tall, it's easily overlooked unless your eyes are "programmed" to scan for wildflowers.
