Field Notes

Description:

A common but secretive snake, milk snakes are named because farmers used to find them in barns after their cows stopped producing milk, and the snakes were blamed for stealing it. Usually Eastern milks lose their vibrant red coloring as they mature but this one retained it into adulthood.
