Description:

The subspecies of the water monitor (Varanus salvator) that inhabits Singapore and (parts of) nearby countries. It is common, large and found near water.

Habitat:

This monitor was observed crossing the path between tidal wetlands and a mangrove-lined channel in the Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve (Singapore).
