Field Notes

Description:

A very fibrous, conical, 50mm white cap with blue-grey tint much stronger at umbo centre; gills white, dense, forking, straight, adnext; straight narrow stipe fibrous also with blue-grey tint; hollow, ring. The stipe was incredibly fragile - just pushing gently to see the gills it snapped off revealing a thin-walled hollow stem.

Habitat:

Very damp eucalyptus rain forest growing just off walking track in mud and leaf litter.

Thanks g.m - The lack of 'nodules' on the cap kept me away from lepiota but that's a good call - might be something like L atrodisca but an Aus version... checking it later today. I will add it to MO

Very cool find. I think it could be one of the blue/blue staining Lepiota species which I believe are quite rare. Considering uploading this to Mushroom Observer http://mushroomobserver.org/
