Description:
Medium size corvid 30-35 cm long, easy to identify due to the striking blue colour in tertiary feathers together with a white rump that facilitates the identification in flight. It is a very noisy bird and I heard it before i could see it. It is very important for the expansion of oak forest due to its habit of hiding lots of acorns in the ground for the winter.
Habitat:
Open oak forest (Quercus pyrenaica). Reserva de la Biosfera del Real Sitio de San Ildefons-El Espinar.
