Description:
It´s a large hummingbird. It is the only member of the genus Eugenes, although the northern, nominate subspecies E. f. fulgens has on occasion been separated from the larger, southern race of Costa Rica and Panama.

Habitat:
This bird breeds in mountains from the southwestern United States to western Panama. I found it at Cerro de la Muerte, 70th Km. San Jose, Costa Rica.
