Description:

Thistle is the common name of a group of flowering plants characterised by leaves with sharp prickles on the margins. These are an adaptation that protects the plant against herbivorous animals, discouraging them from feeding on the plant. Seeds disperse by wind or by birds.

Habitat:

They prefer full sun and will thrive in average or better soils. Can be found in fields, roadsides,or in your yard.

Notes:

Important food source for the American Goldfinch which eats its seeds, and nectar for bees.
